The E clutch/brake element from Eaton Airflex is one of a wide range of Airflex products supplied online and in the UK by Marshward Ltd and which you can view by scrolling below.
The Airflex E elements are mainly used as tension brakes or slip clutches. But they're also used as general power transmission service.
The torque of the Airflex E elements is transmitted through the torque bars to the element housing via the friction shoes. And when the air expands the actuating-tube, which forces the friction shoes against the drum's inner diameter, engagement occurs in the element. The release springs in the Airflex E element assist shoe disengagement and counteracts the centrifugal force.
The E element from Aiflex is ideal for moderate to heavy duty clutch and brake services. They're also ideal for medium speed cyclic applications which are subject to large thermal loads. And if used with an air-agitating ventilated drum, the E element provides excellent slip clutch and tension brake service.
The main applications in which the E element is used include construction equipment, marine winches, metalworking machinery, slip clutches, and tension braking.
Its torque capacities reach up to 1,010,000 lb·in, 114.000 N·m
The standard sizes are as follows: 12E475, 14E475, 16E475, 19E475, 21.5E475, 24E475m, 27E475, 30E600, 34E600, 40E700.
